Selective control of DNA helix openings during gene regulation.
نویسنده
چکیده
DNA helices must undergo openings in the form of localized strand separations in order to permit the onset of RNA synthesis or DNA synthesis. The selective control of such DNA helix openings at particular gene loci is the critical feature of gene regulation in prokaryotes and eukaryotes.

P-70: Evidence for Differential Gene Expression of A Major EpigeneticModifier Enzyme, de novo DNA Methyltransferase 3b, through Vitrification of Mouse Ovary Tissue
Background: Ovarian tissue cryopreservation is a feasible method to preserve female reproductive potential, especially in young patients with cancer or in women at risk of premature ovarian failure. Vitrification has recently emerged as a new trend for biological specimen preservation. On the other hand, gene expression that changes during vitrification can influence oocyte maturation and need ...
متن کاملStrong bending of the DNA double helix
During the past decade, the issue of strong bending of the double helix has attracted a lot of attention. Here, we overview the major experimental and theoretical developments in the field sorting out reliably established facts from speculations and unsubstantiated claims. Theoretical analysis shows that sharp bends or kinks have to facilitate strong bending of the double helix. It remains to b...
متن کاملO-31: Epigenetic Aberration of HOXA10 Gene in Human Endometrium throughout The Menstrual Cycle in Endometriosis
Background: Epigenetic aberration such as DNA methylation and histone modifications appear to be involved in various diseases such as Endometriosis. Here, we investigated the epigenetic regulation of HOXA10 promoter, as a crucial gene, responsible for uterine organogenesis, functional endometrial differentiation and endometrial receptivity, and its correlation with mRNA expression of this gene ...
متن کاملA MODEL FOR THE BASIC HELIX- LOOPHELIX MOTIF AND ITS SEQUENCE SPECIFIC RECOGNITION OF DNA
A three dimensional model of the basic Helix-Loop-Helix motif and its sequence specific recognition of DNA is described. The basic-helix I is modeled as a continuous ?-helix because no ?-helix breaking residue is found between the basic region and the first helix. When the basic region of the two peptide monomers are aligned in the successive major groove of the cognate DNA, the hydrophobi...
متن کاملMembrane localization of the ToxR winged-helix domain is required for TcpP-mediated virulence gene activation in Vibrio cholerae.
ToxR is a bitopic membrane protein that controls virulence gene expression in Vibrio cholerae. Its cytoplasmic domain is homologous to the winged helix-turn-helix ('winged helix') DNA-binding/transcription activation domain found in a variety of prokaryotic and eukaryotic regulators, whereas its periplasmic domain is of ill-defined function. Several genes in V. cholerae are regulated by ToxR, b...
